In spring 1951, I was sixteen then and was learning to model at Montessori High School, I modelled this head of my father, Wim F. Wertheim (1907-1998), who was 43 at the time.
He did not have to pose and I just held the modelling-clay in my hands. There was no clay oven to bake it and actually we did not know how to do it either.
The sculpture is therefore very vulnerable, but my parents have always kept it carefully.
