Japanese Goosebook!

Look! My book ''The Goose snatches the bread from the ducks, my childhood in a Japanese internment camp on the isle of Java'' has finally been published in Japan, as a children's book by publisher Tokuma Shoten in Tokyo!
In this book I describe, going along with the drawings my sister Marijke The-Wertheim and I made in the camp what we children experienced during the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies during the Second World War.
That this publisher published the book right now and moreover did this in a beautiful form, is due to the personal efforts of the translator Saki Nagayama. She already translated the text in 1998 with the support from the Dutch Foundation for Literature and all that time we did not find a publisher who was ready to do it! But because Tokuma Shoten has published the book as a children's book, it does not include the epilogue in which I provide background information about my ideas. The Japanese translation of that epilogue can be found here: anne-ruthwertheim.com/blog
